Our focus on mathematics
In 2023, XTX Markets published Maths Excellence Pathways, a report that outlined our initial plans to advance UK maths education. Following this, we are launching a growing number of major projects, including the Maths Excellence Fund, the Martingale Foundation, the Observatory for Mathematical Education and the Campaign for Mathematical Sciences.
We also support several global talent initiatives, including principal sponsorship of IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad) 2024 in the UK and IMO 2025 in Australia. To further support the IMO community, we co-founded the BIG (Backing Invisible Geniuses) Program, which offers full scholarships for medallists in maths and science olympiads to study at the UK’s top universities.
We also fund mathematical sciences research, including PhDs and postdoctorates in pure math. Beyond this, we are innovating in the field of AI for maths, including creating the $10m AI Mathematical Olympiad Prize, and a new $9m AI for Math Fund to accelerate the development of AI tools for mathematicians.
Wider impact giving
XTX Markets’ philanthropy took off in March 2020, when the firm gave more than £20m to public health charities globally within days of the first Covid lockdown. Since then, the firm has continued to make donations in times of crisis, including £38m in support for Ukraine, with a particular focus on education through our £15m Academic Sanctuaries Fund and our £7.5m Ukraine Global Excellence Fund.
We also commit a proportion of our giving to charities that we believe will maximise impact per pound. Partnering with Founders Pledge, a charity that undertakes extensive research and due diligence to identify the highest impact grants, we have granted £71m to 27 charities, with a particular focus on education and global development.

Employee giving
XTX Markets has a corporate social responsibility budget to support individual and team giving. The firm matches any employee donations on a 1:1 basis, so for every £1 donated, we donate another £1. Each of our global teams is supported to partner with charities in their local community, where the firm makes a donation and employees may engage through events, fundraising or volunteering.
Sustainability
XTX Markets mitigates its carbon emissions through high-quality CO2 removals and makes wider investments to accelerate net zero technologies. As of 2024, the firm has purchased CDR (carbon dioxide removal) credits equivalent to 17,275 tonnes of CO2.
