The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated paralegal to assist the (i) Data Protection Office with data protection matters; and (ii) the Compliance and Legal departments with the running and maintenance of the XTX Markets group governance structure.

Reporting to the Legal Department, the individual will be primarily responsible for identifying, redrafting, negotiating, and executing contracts with counterparties in order to comply with third country data transfers under UK GDPR. The individual will also be responsible for the organisation and smooth operation of the group’s boards and governance meetings, regularly liaising with the senior executives and non-executive directors of the group, as well as maintaining the group’s policy database. The individual will also assist with documentation management, company filings and fulfilment of counterparty onboarding and KYC requests.

There is tremendous growth potential with this role. The expectation is for the individual to ultimately take on more of the group’s company secretarial and governance responsibilities, experience, and responsibility of wider legal and compliance documentation, and establishing relationships with the most senior management in the firm.


  • Project manging, negotiating, and executing the redrafting of contracts with third parties where personal data is transferred, in order to comply with the UK GDPR changes
  • Organising and ensuring the smooth operation of the group’s board and governance meetings, including collating, and circulating the agenda and meeting documentation, liaising with internal stakeholders in preparation for meetings and ensuring completion of post-meeting action points. Over time, these responsibilities may include minute taking of certain meetings
  • Maintaining the group’s policy database by ensuring that policy owners are regularly reviewing and updating the policies in accordance with the group’s regulatory obligations and timelines
  • Assisting with the completion and submission of corporate and regulatory filing requirements
  • Assisting with documentation storage and maintenance of legal documentation databases
  • Assisting with the fulfilment of counterparty due diligence, KYC and onboarding requests by co-ordinating and collating the relevant documentation from departments across the group
  • Managing law firm relationships in terms of billing and payment of invoices and liaising with the accounts payable team
  • Being first point of contact for non-executive directors and external advisors in relation to board and governance matters
  • Assisting with the co-ordination and implementation of firm-wide projects

Essential Attributes

  • Previous paralegal experience of working in a financial services firm.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Excellent communication and team-working skills, as the role will involve regularly liaising and interacting with all departments, the senior executives, and non-executive directors of the group.
  • Determined and ambitious individual who wants to grow and develop company secretarial, legal and compliance skills and is challenged and motivated by working outside their comfort zone.
  • Good attention to detail.
