XTX is seeking an investment associate to originate investments and assist with the growth of XTX Ventures and Strategic Investments. The role will offer successful candidates a unique opportunity to work within a highly active investment business within one of the world’s most technologically advanced trading firms.

The Ventures and Strategic Investment business leverages internal capital from XTX with two investment mandates:

1. Ventures: Seed to Series A venture investments in cutting-edge companies utilizing Machine Learning at their core. Select portfolio companies include Anthropic, Wayve.ai, Turbine and IBEX.
2. Strategic Investments: Investments that are additive to XTX Markets’ role as a liquidity provider within capital markets.
   
   

Deal sourcing and execution:

• Work with the existing team to develop venture investment / sector thesis’, keeping abreast of AI trends across various industries.
• Sourcing investment deals through established and new relationships.
• Conduct technical due diligence, leveraging your technical expertise.
• Organize additional internal due diligence process, leveraging AI/ML/technology expertise within XTX.
• Negotiate term sheets and investment offers.
• Co-ordinate deal execution with existing venture team members, in-house legal and finance teams.

Portfolio management (Ventures and Strategic Investments):

• Working closely with the leadership of portfolio companies on business strategy, operations, and growth.
• Attending board meetings as an observer.
• Connecting companies to experts within and outside of XTX.
• Assisting with next stage fundraising or exits (connecting to investors, validating materials).
• Tracking exercise of any XTX investments involving optionality, such as convertible notes or warrants, preparing summaries or recommendations for the XTX Investment Committee.
• Obtaining key performance metrics for internal monthly XTX Operating Committee.

Represent XTX at external events:

• Help maintain existing accelerator and investment programme relationships.
• Grow XTX’s presence as a leading technology investor by attending targeted events and partnering with appropriate outside organisations.

Other:

• Help prepare the annual business plan for internal funding (no external fundraising requirement).
• The position is based in London but may involve international business travel.

• Diverse Backgrounds Welcome: We welcome candidates from various backgrounds, requiring a minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a highly technical role within the machine learning ecosystem. This could include experience as an operator in a high-growth company, an investor in the space, a data scientist, consultant, or machine learning investor.
• Strategic Thinker with Operational Insight: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make decisions that contribute to the success of portfolio companies. Previous entrepreneurial or operational experience within early or growth-stage companies is advantageous.
• Effective Communication: Excellent communication skills, including the ability to swiftly create insightful and concise materials for colleagues involved in investment due diligence and the Investment Committee (IC).
• Organised and Time-Efficient: Highly organized and time-efficient with a self-starter mentality, able to thrive in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
• Team Player: Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting, recognizing the importance of collective efforts over individual contributions.
• Technical Expertise: Skills to address and fill identified gaps, diversifying from reliance on specific individuals for technical due diligence. Seeking someone capable of adding technical value to the portfolio, advising startups on ML strategies, platform build-outs, and exploring potential support with GPUs. The ideal candidate can run deals while enhancing our technical capabilities, reinforcing our brand commitment to supporting ML initiatives.
