Internships - Finance / Risk / Core Engineering

XTX has now closed it's applications for 2024 internship placements. At this time we are unable to offer any additional internships. If this changes we will update our website accordingly.

We are focused on teamwork and our people collaborate on all aspects of the business, working openly and with respect for each other, our clients and the market. Our culture is non-hierarchical and one where everyone is valued. We strive for excellence in everything we do.

We are pleased to offer several internships for summer 2024. The following teams will host 1 intern for the duration of their stay.

The teams that are hiring:

  • Finance
  • Risk
  • Core Engineering (Software Development)

In the Finance team, you will have the opportunity to learn techniques for automating finance processes at scale, with on hand support from finance and tech professionals. You can expect a broad experience across all finance functions, engaging with several stakeholders across the business.

For the Risk team, you will be exposed to how XTX manages operational and real-time market risk. It is a highly quantitative team, using Python and Golang extensively, and is a unique insight into the daily trading activities of an award-winning trading firm.

For Core Engineering, you will work on our technology platform supporting post-trade activities. The platform has been developed in-house using a distributed microservices architecture to provide high throughput (millions of trades per day) and high availability (24x7 operation) while also allowing very agile but well-controlled development practices (multiple production releases per day).  The primary development language for back-end services is Go, with web-based GUI development in JavaScript.

  • We will give preference to candidates who are in their penultimate year of studies, preferably in a STEM subject such as Maths, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science or related.
  • You should have demonstrable interest in, and expertise with, Python or R for data analysis (Finance and Risk roles)
  • A solid grounding in academic CS fundamentals (algorithms and data structures) for the Core Engineer role.
  • You will be enthusiastic and can demonstrate a willingness to work with multiple teams.
  • You will be able to show an enthusiasm for trading, with a preference for candidates who demonstrate this with internships, personal development projects or academic study.

We currently do not offer internships in the quant research or trading analyst teams.
