XTX Markets
XTX Markets is a leading algorithmic trading firm, headquartered in London.
It uses state-of-the-art machine learning technology to produce price forecasts for over 50,000 financial instruments across equities, fixed income, currencies, commodities and crypto.
As a company with deep foundations in mathematics, one of its priorities is to support maths education and research globally, to which it has committed more than $250mn in charitable funds over the past five years. It has a particular focus on widening access to educational opportunities and developing mathematical talent.
International Mathematical Olympiad
XTX Markets is proud to partner with the IMO community.
As well as being the principal sponsor of the IMO in 2019, 2024 and 2025, we directly support several national initiatives, including the UK Mathematics Trust and the Ukrainian IMO Team.
More widely, we also make charitable donations to Global Talent Fund, a US-based charity, to deliver two programs that support IMO participants and coaching around the world:
The BIG Scholars Program
This program offers up to 50 fully-paid scholarships each year to enable students to complete undergraduate degrees in maths and science at top-tier universities such as Cambridge, Oxford and Imperial. It is open to students from all around the world who have won a medal at the IMO or other olympiad competitions.
The Nations Grant Program
This program offers charitable grants of up to $50,000 to organisations that identify and nurture high-potential students in maths and science. It is open to non-profit organisations from around the world, including charities, societies and universities. It often provides grants to new or developing olympiad teams, particularly in the global south.

Artificial Intelligence Mathematical Olympiad
In 2023, XTX Markets created the Artificial Intelligence Mathematical Olympiad (AIMO), a $10mn fund to spur the open development of AI models that can reason mathematically, leading to a publicly-shared AI model capable of winning a gold medal in the IMO.
The AIMO Prize includes a series of incrementally more difficult “progress prizes”, leading to a grand prize of $5mn for IMO gold medal performance. The competitions are held in partnership with Kaggle, the world’s premier machine learning competition platform.
In 2024, the first progress prize of $131k was won by Numina, a French non-profit organisation founded in collaboration with HuggingFace and Mistral. Since then, Numina has open-sourced its models and datasets for the research community.
In 2025, the second progress prize of $262k was won by NemoSkills, an independent team including researchers from NVIDIA. The second progress prize included problems of a national olympiad-level (e.g. USMO).
The third progress prize will be launching later this year.
