THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join the XTX Legal Team on a 6-month fixed term contract to assist with several key firm-wide projects including data protection compliance, document management implementation and inter-company contractual re-structuring. The successful candidate will also assist the team with wider legal matters.

The successful candidate will be hard working, enthusiastic and with a high level of initiative and a willingness to learn. The role will involve interacting with senior individuals from across XTX, therefore excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills are essential along with a high level of professionalism.

This is a unique opportunity for the right individual to develop and learn their knowledge of legal areas such as contract law and data privacy, as well as gaining exposure and an understanding of the role of an in-house legal department in a leading algorithmic trading firm. We currently operate a 4 days a week in office, 1 from home model.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organising and ensuring the smooth operation of the group’s board and governance.
  • Act as a first point of contact for ongoing contractual reorganisation projects (including in relation to the implementation of UK International Data Transfer Agreements).
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to identify and update data protection related clauses in contracts.
  • Actively review and comment on a wide range of commercial contracts (with a particular focus on data protection compliance).
  • Be responsible for updating and maintaining internal legal trackers and managing storage of documentation.
  • Provide general support to the wider legal team.

ATTRIBUTES

  • You will have completed your LPC and hold a 2:1 degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Prior experience of working as a paralegal or working within a legal or compliance department (either at a law firm or in-house).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-working skills, as the role will involve regularly liaising and interacting with all departments and the senior executives of the group.
  • Hard working, enthusiastic, with a high level of initiative and a willingness to learn.
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Experience working in a regulated financial institution is beneficial.
  • Experience of GDPR and data privacy legislation or contractual work is beneficial.
